2021 - Pin swap - 50 Pins for 50 Years
2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of JMGQ (Jewellers and Metalsmiths Queensland). JMGQ was formed as a sub group of the Crafts Association of QLD, now artisan, and, in acknowledgement of the close, historical association of the two organisations, we are delighted to celebrate this milestone together.
This year’s annual Pin Swap was a commemorative event. Participating members were allocated a year between 1971 to 2020, as inspiration to create their pin. The pin could reference a specific event in that year or a design aesthetic. To mark this truly unique occasion, this event was a live exhibition, where the pins were ‘swapped’ and worn by maker recipients on the night. The exhibiting items were shown by the recipients, who mingled and spoke about the references and year that inspired the pin.
